Goldsource® STU-3000 Step Up/Down Voltage Transformer Converter - AC 110/220 V - 3000 Watt

Product Description

Made by one of the leading manufacturers in the industry, the Goldsource ST series step up/down voltage transformers offer you a safe, reliable, affordable & convenient solution to converting voltages from 110-120 volts up to 220-240 volts or from 220-240 volts down to 110-120 volts for both home use & industrial applications. The ST-3000 is rated at 3000 watts maximum. It features a heavy-duty cord with a standard US 3-prong plug plus a free American to German outlet plug adapter. There are a total of two grounded outputs on the front panel, one is designated for 120 volts and the other is for 220 volts only. They both are standard US outlets and can be used simultaneously. For safety, it's recommended by the manufacturer that the voltage transformer's maximum power should be equal or greater than the power rating of your appliance multiplied by 1.5. For example, if you have an appliance rated at 100 watts, you will need to pick a transformer with a maximum power of 150 watts or greater.

  • Step Up/Down transformer converts 220-240 volts down to 110-120 Volts or 110-120 volts up to 220-240 volts.
  • Simultaneous 3-mode Output: 5V (USB) / 120V (Standard US outlet) / 220V (Universal outlet)
  • Four input voltages selectable: 110V/120V/220V/240V
  • All range fuse protection with two spare fuses included.
  • CE certified & 3-year manufacturer's limited warranty.

I bought this transformer to use in Brazil so that I could take my 110v 60hz American products and use them in a 220v 50hz system in Brazil. The product is well equipped to do this. It has different settings for input of 110v, 120v, 200v, 220v, or 240v. You easily select the voltage that will be coming in by moving a plug in the back. The power cord is a standard USA polarized plug with ground, but in the box it comes with a plug adapter for Europe. This didn't help me too much in Brazil, but it is not a big deal to get a $1 or $2 plug adapter to make it fit here or anywhere else.

After you plug it in, switch it on, and then you have two options on the front from which to get power. You can receive either 110v or 220v via two USA type outlets (with ground) in the front. Then just plug in your electronic equipment and bingo, you have the correct voltage and hertz to not burn out your motors! I am using the product to step down the voltage to 110v for my stuff, but... We live in Africa and have burned up many transformers. This one has held on well while being used with a KitchenAid and an expresso maker.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken, December 13, 2011
This review is from: Goldsource STU-3000 Step Up/Down Voltage Transformer Converter - AC 110/220 V - 3000 Watt (Electronics)
I received the product and was excited. I opened the boxes the item came in and it was dented in the front with the circuit breaker just dangling. You could hear pieces inside that broke off. I opened the unit and found the usb port damaged and the mounting bracket for the circuit breaker broken. This didn't happen while it was delivered because there was no indication of a puncture in either box. This came from the factory this way. Inside, I was able to super glue the bracket together and re-bend the usb port to get it to work. The solder connections inside are horrible. Looks like a 3 year old soldered the wires. Very poor quality. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Super Automatics Out There for the Price, May 11, 2007

This review is from: DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine (Kitchen)
I have the EAM3200, which is the previous model version. The differences are slight but noticeable to the newer. These machines are the best in class for price and performance, produce a great espresso, and are maintainable in ways that other manufacturers models are not. The coffee from the Delonghi is just as good as from Jura and even some manual models such as Expobar and Rancillo. It is very close to what you find in Italy - not quite, but for the price it is worth it. Great crema, hot temperature, rich flavor. And the best part is you can pull out the brew mechanism and clean it - VERY key. This will ensure sound operation and function for many years.

In order to keep this machine is fine working order, you need to do a bit of upkeep each week and use the right beans.

1. Only use non-oily, 100% Arabica beans. If you use oily beans it will clog frequently and attract rancid flavors. It will also shorten the life of the machine. I use Illy, but any espresso... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee, build quality problems, April 20, 2009

This review is from: DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine (Kitchen)
[This review applies to the Magnifica 3200, this is the same as the 3300 with slight cosmetic differences.]

I bought this machine in 2006 after an almost-endless trawl through the internet reading owners' reviews - after all, we are talking about the search for the perfect espresso here!

The coffee quality is indeed great. The only misgivings I would have about using it are that the knobs have no user markings, which means that if there are several people in the house using the machine, it is impossible to select the previously-selected individual settings. Also, the time before the machine performs an auto-switchoff is fixed at about three hours. I couldn't find the power comsumption in the user manual when in "idle" mode, but I think it must be substantial since it keeps the boiler/cup-preheater hot during this time. Not that the preheater is any use - I warm my cups by first wetting them and then putting them in the microwave for 30 seconds.

This is an update after three years of using our Magnifica.

We bought our Magnifica after using a similar machine while visiting friends in Germany. We have been using it for over 3 years now, and are still quite happy with it. My wife and I both drink a lot of coffee -- tall Americanos most of the day. I am a full time telecommuter, so I will average 3-5 a day in winter, 2-4 in summer. We also love being able to fill a couple of 16 oz. insulated cups before leaving on a road trip. I would say this machine probably gets more use than the manufacturer intended.

The unit has been fairly trouble free. We have noticed a few occasions when water leaked from the tank where it connected to the machine, leaving a puddle on the counter. After a cleaning and more carefully aligning the tank, it ceased being a problem. We have run the de-liming process when the machine asked for it. So far no other problems. I would strongly recommend a complete, thorough cleaning inside... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars I *love* my Breville...4+ stars, August 20, 2011

I love my machine.

If my house were robbed and they stole my Breville 830, I would replace it with another Breville 830 (I've only had the machine for 4 months...I reserve the right to change my opinion if it fails me in the first 2 years).

BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine

Every morning I stumble over to this very beautiful piece of machinary, and push that round "start" button and savor the anticipation of coffee drinks better than I get at the local overpriced coffee drive-through.

I can't comment on reliability apart from "mine works just like new and I use it twice a day". At four months old, that's expected. Ask me in 2-3 years. My last machine was a gift from my parents in 1991. It finally died of total system collapse (i.e. "old age").

This machine makes... Read more

This particular model (830XL) was out of stock at most dealers. I was tempted to get the older model, 820XL, but found negative reviews regarding its pressure guage breaking down often. I wanted to avoid that so I waited and found a seller that had the newer 830XL in stock. Item was well packaged and was delivered ahead of schedule.

I ran my first espresso, and it came out decent with a good amount of crema. I tried again using a different grind size. I can see the pressure guage showing optimal pressure for the 1st run, and slightly higher for the 2nd run. On the third run, the pressure guage stopped working and the espresso was muddy and terrible. I made sure everything was clean and water tank was full, etc. I tried both manual and automatic modes. I tried going back to initial grind size. I have a pretty good coffee grinder (Rancillio Rocky) that gives out very consistent grind size. I tried everything I could think of, but the pressure guage never worked again... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish, easy to use, makes great espresso, November 29, 2010
This review is from: BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine (Kitchen)
I've had this machine for about 3 weeks now. This is my first espresso machine so I don't really have any others to compare it to. The machine comes fully assembled and ready to use out of the box.
It heats up quickly and makes a great Espresso every time, I have been using the pre-programmed settings for the single and double shots and it comes out great with a nice crema.
Used both a medium espresso grind as well as a preground coffee that I originally bought for a drip coffee machine, both types made great espresso.
The milk forther is very nice, easy to use, and quick to steam.
As one of the other reviewers mentioned cleaning is a breeze for all components which is a huge plus.
Got this refurbished on buy.com for $150, which is an amazing deal for this machine.
Haven't had any issues with any of the components so far.
